Freshening up for the New Year!

2011 is almost upon us... we had a fabulous year and hope you did, too! We think it’s always fun to start the New Year with a fresh new look in the home. It doesn’t mean you have to buy a whole new sofa or dining table set, (although we’d love to sell you one!)…. freshening up a room is as easy as adding a few new toss pillows on your sofa or bed.
From frilly feminine to masculine (think recycled army tents), we have a wide variety of pillows in our showroom and more are on the way.

Speaking of the New Year, wouldn't it be fun to drink a little bubbly from these dotted champagne flutes. They also come in wine glasses. Cheers!
Add even more sparkle to your New Year's Eve with one of our beautiful new necklaces. We just recieved a new batch that would add the perfect amount of glitz to a party dress.

And it’s been chilly and windy lately.. we love bundling up in a cozy scarf. BTW, this is a great last minute gift for a special woman in your life... like a great necklace or bag, scarves always fit... no matter your size.

The recent rains have made it so dark and dreary lately... it seems like I'm turning on all the lights no matter what time of day at my house. Brighten up this long winter with one of our gorgeous lamps. We have a fantastic variety right now.. you're going to want to take them all home.
We have every type of lighting imaginable.. chandeliers, pendants, table lamps, floor lamps.. And every style.. industrial metal .. sleek and shiny .... along with downright rustic.

You can get a whole new energy in a stale room by changing out your lighting fixture.

We are doing some freshening up ourselves in our Encinitas store right now. We sold most of our holiday decorations, took the Christmas tree down and we’ve completely redesigned the back half of the store. Here's a sneak peak..... come see the rest for yourself!
We hope you had a fantastic 2010, we know we did... Our big highlight was opening our second store in Newport Beach at the end of May. If you haven't seen it yet, put it on your "to do" list for 2011, and be sure to stop by our neighbor Haute Cakes cafe to get a latte and a scrumptious pastry. For lunch we recommend their Chili Mac-n-Cheese.
Our Newport Beach store is at 1701 Westcliff Dr., Newport Beach, CA 92024 (949) 650-9900. The Grand Opening Party in September was super fun. We also had a blast at our Encinitas Anniversary party in October. We hope you'll join us for our special events next year, we have a few ideas floating around... stay tuned.. We hope you have a fantastic time over the holidays.
Happy Holidays from your friends at Gardenology.

Corona del Mar Home Tour

Our amazing designer Vicki Jansma brings signature Gardenology style to a beautiful patio of an Orange County home. It was part of the the 37th Annual Corona del Mar Home Tour, which benefits Corona del Mar High School.
Several outdoor spaces in Patti Takeda's home were given the Gardenology treatment, including this one by the spa. Takeda's existing patio furniture was draped with cozy blankets and hand-knitted natural fiber pillows.

A burlap wrapped pot with a stunning faux tree perched atop concrete console table.

Our custom made steel drum table and iron sphere makes for a stunning centerpiece.

The milky glass vases Vicki placed on the mantel contrasted beautifully with the rustic stone outdoor fireplace.
Can't you just picture yourself out here this fall ... wrapped in a blanket, enjoying a glass of wine, listening to the soothing waterfall? We sure can!
Our favorite handmade Italian pottery and dishes make for an inviting meal a top this hefty stone table.
Thank you again to Patti Takeda for allowing us into your lovely home!

Encinitas Anniversary Party

Some of our favorite people came to the Gardenology Encinitas location to help us celebrate our 8th Anniversary.

Our stunningly beautiful assistant manager Zuleyma is in our new ad for Luxe Magazine.

Luxe's Heather Cunningham and Dave Long
We threw the party in conjunction with Luxe Magazine, and want to thank Heather Cunningham for all of her help.

Our wonderful hor d'oeuvers were from our awesome downtown Encinitas neighbor Via Italia

Owner Lili McIntire and merchandiser Meredith Hopper spent more than a week reworking the store and displaying all of our beautiful holiday items. The show-stopper, a 12-foot-tall artificial tree in the middle of the store that is dripping with pearls, glass icicles, and huge ostrich feathers.
Gail Gregson & Gardenology Owner Lili

Gardenology Encinitas Holidays 2010

Check out our delicious, whimsical, glorious holiday tree. Before we decorated this 12-foot artificial tree, it was a little sad and Charlie Brown-looking. Now it's dripping with beaded garlands, snow-encrusted branches, downy-white ostrich feathers, over-sized glass icicles, and happy little birds perched on the branches. Pine cones bathed in snowy glitter hang next to the rustic birch star-shaped ornaments.... a beautiful contrast. The tree is alive with shine and texture... come in a take a gander at this thing of wonder..

We tore the store apart last week. It is now put back together with our beautiful holiday displays. We are chock full of new decor ideas for your home. These wood block letter signs (below) are perfect for the mantel or side table.. I would tuck in a little greenery between the letters, hang your stockings and you have an easy way to perk up the fireplace.
This angelic statue would look gorgeous gracing your hearth, sofa table or mantel. She is a versatile 18 inches tall, so she can go just about anywhere..
I love the way the chandelier is reflected in the mirror in this picture....
Our tall amaryllis bulbs never fade and can be used year after year...  tuck them into a pot, top with moss and you're done. Or  you can drop one into a small glass vase and show off the realistic looking bulb and roots. Beautiful and fresh..
Our mirror is draped with magnolia garland..
Our front window.... I love the juxtaposition of the spiky pine cones and soft feathers on the metal table.
Gorgeous Zinc Clock face would make quite a statement in any room.
Melinda is all dolled up in pearls and her new skirt and ready for some fun!
Warmest wishes for the Holidays!

Gardenology Newport Beach Grand Opening Party

What a spectacular evening!  We had a wonderful turnout, fantastic food, and rooms overflowing with beautiful people and their laughing and smiling faces. It was the grand opening party of Gardenology Newport Beach. And we want to thank Heather Cunningham of Luxe Magazine for all of her help in making the celebration a huge success, and our amazing chef C. Barclay Dodge. We couldn't have done it without you.
Gardenology Owner Lili McIntire & Designer Vicki Jansma
Gardenology owner Lili McIntire was all smiles throughout the evening as was designer Vicki Jansma.

Lili & Chef C. Barclay Dodge
Our guests couldn't stop raving about the hor d'oeuvres prepared by Chef C. Barclay Dodge, now the Executive Chef at Whisknladle in La Jolla. The cherry tomatoes filled with avocado mousse topped with bacon were to die for... as were the fruit and herb skewers with balsamic reduction drizzle. And our delicious cupcakes were made for us by Rachel Hastings. The unique flavor combinations were honey-vanilla with lavender frosting and lemon with mint frosting. And lets not forget the luscious red velvet with cream cheese frosting... simply amazing!
Contractor Jamie Acetta & Vicki
Thank you to our contractor Jamie Acetta for transforming this beautiful space and fulfilling our vision for Gardenology Newport Beach. He's pretty cute too, don't you think?
Lili & Kenneth & Ray
   Life of the Party!
Gion Vex, Chris Cavez and Shyama
Our guests know how to have fun! The champagne and wine was  flowing throughout the evening.

Lovely party-goers mingling in the design studio.

More mingling at our beautiful custom-made frangrance bar..
Lili and Summer Classics' Wes Reyher
We love our outdoor spaces in Newport Beach. As the sun went down, the flickering candlelight was beautiful setting for our gorgeous patio furniture.
Thank you to everyone who came to this event and helped make it a huge success. We raised money for a great cause, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Center and we had a great time. We heard over and over from our guests that they are so glad we opened in Newport Beach, and we really appreciate everyone's support. Thank you!
