Coastal Style

We're having an amazing run of weather here in Southern California right now. It's hard to believe we're smack-dab in the middle of winter. It's currently a sunny 71 degrees. Makes you want to head to the beach, sink your toes in the sand and soak up the sun (with a hat and SPF 60, of course.) Not many of us can actually afford to live at the beach, but it doesn't mean we can't pretend....  and this gorgeous book is so inspiring.
Like Gardenology, this beautiful book showcases coastal style that's easy to incorporate into any home.
Soothing neutrals, natural textures, and calming colors are key concepts.

Casual, white slipcovered furniture is the epitome of beach chic. It beckons you to take off your shoes and relax. Add some vintage-looking pieces for an eclectic look, like these pendants or the clock below.

When adding coastal style to your home take your cues from the textures and colors of nature. Linen, burlap and cotton are great fabric options to evoke the beach feel.  A color palette of sky blues, cloudy whites, and soft grays help create a soothing home.

The light-wood dining set, open fireplace and high ceilings featured in this Coastal Style photo give a light and airy feel to this room.

And if you like the dining room photo from the book, we have this gorgeous harvest table at Gardenology, too.
Accessories are an easy way to add beachy style... sea motif dinnerware, natural shells, breezy aqua napkins, or linen sea life pillows.

This place-setting is an quick, yet, elegant way to add beach style to your dining room.  And when you're done with your dinner party, put the shells and coral in a big bowl on your coffee table or bathroom.
Summer Classics Rustic Collection
One of the best ways to appreciate the beauty of the water and sky is outdoors. Your outdoor spaces should be as well-designed as your indoor ones. We love this seating area from Summer Classics pictured above.. it's the perfect shade of driftwood gray. It's made of resin and looks like wicker that's been sitting in the salt air for a few years, but this will last way longer. If you're not into the rustic look....
Brown Jordan Fusion Collection
..this clean-lined sectional from Brown Jordan is a versatile option with a contemporary feel, yet  comfortable and easy to personalize with throw pillows. A great perch for watching the sunset.
Coastal style at its best is informal, casual, and definitely not perfect.
